313's Heroes and Goats

From the Wisconsin vs. Michigan State game

The Hero: Brett Swenson. Junior kicker was 4-for-4 on field goals and booted a 44-yarder with 7 seconds left to win the game for the Spartans. His third field goal was a 50-yarder.
The Goat: Bret Bielema. The Wisconsin coach's Badgers had 12 penalties, but the 15-yard unsportsmanlike call he received in the fourth quarter gave MSU great field position and helped the Spartans narrow the Badgers' lead to five following Javon Ringer's touchdown.

From the Michigan vs. Purdue game

The Hero: Justin Siller. The Purdue sophomore from Orchard Lake St. Mary's stepped into a difficult situation after only two weeks playing quarterback and shined in his first start. He passed for 226 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 77 yards and another score. He replaced injured Chris Painter, who had started 40 games in a row.
The Goat: U-M defense. No one could expect the defense could be worse than it was much of October, but it degenerated further, into season worsts for points allowed and yards allowed. They were singed through the air (226 yards), on the ground (256 yards) and even tricked on a hook-and-lateral play on the final drive, when the Boilermakers marched downfield in less than a minute to score the winner.
