TiVo Guide Week of January 26, 2009 *spoiler alert*

"The Bachelor" The nine remaining bachelorettes vie in a singing contest for a one-on-one date with Jason, who also accompanies six of the contestants to the set of "General Hospital," where they meet cast members Bradford Anderson and Kirsten Storms (and one earns a rose). And he takes two others, clad in evening gowns and riding in a Bentley, for a romantic night of dining and dancing. One gets a rose; the other doesn't, and three others turn into pumpkins at the rose ceremony. Monday at 8 on ABC.

"The Closer" The fate of Det. Sanchez, who was shot three times and airlifted to a hospital, is revealed. In addition, the team investigates whether a suicide was actually murder. And Brenda's parents (Frances Sternhagen, Barry Corbin) pay a visit while on their way to a Hawaiian cruise. Monday at 9 on TNT.

"Trust Me" A drama about disparate friends Mason McGuire (Eric McCormack) and Conner (Tom Cavanagh), whose bond is tested while working together at a Chicago ad agency. First up: The admen work on a new cell-phone campaign. Meanwhile, Mason is promoted; and a new copywriter (Monica Potter) believes her duties are beneath her. Griffin Dunne also stars. Monday at 10 on TNT.

"American Idol" The preliminary auditions continue. Tuesday at 8 on Fox.

"Scrubs" J.D. tries to teach compassion with help from "Sesame Street" favorites Elmo, Grover and Oscar the Grouch. Meanwhile, intern Katie hopes to land a spot on Turk's research team by scamming Elliot. Tuesday at 9 on ABC.

"Without a Trace" The team search for Elena's former partner, who disappeared during an undercover sting operation, and the case forces Elena to confront past actions she would rather forget. Lucy: Adriana DeMeo. Tom Russell: Daniel E. Smith. Tuesday at 10:01 on CBS.

"Make 'Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America" A look at smart alecks, including Larry David, W.C. Fields, Redd Foxx, Paul Lynde, Groucho Marx, Eddie Murphy, Joan Rivers, Chris Rock and Phil Silvers. Then, comics who lampoon politics and/or pop culture get their due, including Mel Brooks, Sid Caesar, Johnny Carson, Stephen Colbert, Will Rogers, Jon Stewart and the "Saturday Night Live" crew. Wednesday at 8 on PBS.

"Top Chef: New York" The Super Bowl is saluted when the foodies go the extra yard in a football-themed culinary cook-off against former series players, including Season 4's Andrew and Spike, Season 3's Camille and Season 2's Josie. Chef Scott Conant is the guest judge. Wednesday at 10 on Bravo.

"Life on Mars" A bank robbery that may be linked to the Russian mob renews a long-standing rivalry between Lt. Hunt's squad and Lt. Nunzio's crew. Meanwhile, Sam takes a shine to a pretty, young social worker. Wednesday at 10:02 on ABC.

"Hell's Kitchen" Chef Gordon Ramsay returns for a fifth season to bedevil would-be culinary superstars, and things begin promisingly as contestants prepare their signature dishes. "Best ever," Ramsay reports. Dinner service doesn't go as well. For starters, the field of 16, the largest ever, is unwieldy, so a member of each team waits on tables. One does so disastrously. And in the kitchen, it's worse. The winner gets an executive-chef position at an Atlantic City, N.J., hotel. Thursday at 9 on Fox.

"Super Bowl Bash" Jerry O'Connell hosts this Super Bowl celebration, which features performances by Rihanna, Fall Out Boy and Lifehouse and appearances by NFL stars. Thursday at 9 on VH1.

"Private Practice" Addison's brother, Archer (Grant Show), moves to L.A. to begin work at Pacific Wellcare, causing problems for both her and Naomi. Meanwhile, Cooper encourages Violet to talk to Pete and Sheldon (Brian Benben) about her pregnancy, then she learns that neither of them wants children. Thursday at 10:02 on ABC.

"Dog Whisperer" The host tackles one of his toughest cases yet, a vicious Chihuahua appropriately named El Diablo, who terrorizes other pups living at the Luv-A-Bull rescue organization. Friday at 8 on National Geographic.

"Psych" After the foot of a pro football kicker is found, Shawn and Gus sign up for training camp. Friday at 10 on USA.

"Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials" Jim Nantz and Daisy Fuentes host a look at 10 of the best commercials to air during past Super Bowls, with viewers choosing the top spot. In addition, the Mean Joe Greene Coca-Cola ad, which is the current Super Bowl commercial champion, is retired. Saturday at 8 on CBS.

"The Note II: Taking a Chance on Love" Columnist Peyton MacGruder (Genie Francis) befriends a reader who sent her a note that inspires Peyton to reconsider the choices she's made and her reluctance to accept her boyfriend's marriage proposal. Ted McGinley also stars. Written and directed by Doug Barr. Saturday at 9 on Hallmark.

"Lisa Lampanelli: Long Live the Queen" In her first HBO special, comic Lisa Lampanelli performs in Santa Rosa, Cal., at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. Saturday at 10 on HBO.

"Super Bowl XLIII:Cardinals vs. Steelers" Arizona vs. Pittsburgh at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Kurt Warner and surprising Arizona face the top-ranked defense of the Steelers, who can win their sixth Super Bowl. Halftime entertainment is provided by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Al Michaels and John Madden report. Sunday at 6 on NBC.

"Big Love" Roman's upcoming trial creates more headaches for the Henricksons as Bill worries about Rhonda's plans to testify, the involvement of Joey's family and shocking news about Nicki's past. Meanwhile, Barb has another contentious reunion with her sister; Margene copes with a family tragedy; and Sarah changes her mind about attending her senior prom. Sunday at 9 on HBO.

"Wipeout Bowl I: Cheerleaders vs. Couch Potatoes" A team of cheerleaders battles a team of male couch potatoes in a run through football-themed obstacles. Michael Irvin is the sideline reporter. Sunday at 10 on ABC.
