TiVo Guide Week of June 15, 2009 *spoiler alert*

“The Closer” Brenda snoops into the abduction of a greedy financier being investigated for investment fraud, but she soon suspects he may have staged the kidnapping. Meanwhile, Provenza continues to exhibit bizarre behavior; and Brenda's cat tries to scratch through a medical problem. Monday at 9 on TNT.

“Hawthorne” The life of a headstrong yet empathetic chief nursing officer named Christina Hawthorne (Jada Pinkett Smith) is charted in this hospital drama. The series opens with Hawthorne trying to prevent a cancer patient's suicide attempt. The widowed Hawthorne also deals with her rebellious daughter (Hannah Hodson) and her former mother-in-law (Joanna Cassidy). Meanwhile, Hawthorne helps a homeless woman and her ill infant. Tuesday at 9 on TNT.

“Great Performances” A 2008 revival of the musical "Chess," in which melodies by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and lyrics by Tim Rice propel the story of Russian and American chess players (Josh Groban, Adam Pascal) and the woman they both love (Idina Menzel). The City of London Philharmonic and 100-voice West End Chorus provide accompaniment. From the Royal Albert Hall in London. Wednesday at 8 on PBS.

“Fashion Show” The outfitters use office items to transform party attire into work-appropriate wear. Later, they are whisked away to a surprise location for the elimination challenge. Actress Becki Newton and model-fashionista Veronica Webb are the guest judges. Thursday at 10 on Bravo.

“Mr. Troop Mom” A workaholic lawyer (George Lopez) reluctantly fills in as a chaperone on his 13-year-old daughter's (Daniela Bobadilla) school camping trip. The outdoor weekend adventure concludes with a musical performance by Nat and Alex Wolff. Friday at 8 on Nickelodeon.

“Eli Stone” Getaway plans for Taylor and Matt morph into a road trip with Eli and Maggie to Sonoma, where a witness in an important case is in jail, but the efforts to get her released are hampered by Matt's history with a local judge. Meanwhile, Eli's dangerous flirtation with a risky acupuncture procedure results in a new health crisis. Saturday at 10 on ABC.

“Impact” The end is nigh in this two-part sci-fi-drama about the moon on a collision course with Earth. In Part 1, a dead star strikes the moon during a meteor shower. At first, there seems to be no lasting damage, but soon puzzling things begin to happen (cell-phone disruptions, tidal anomalies), and scientists (David James Elliott, Natasha Henstridge and Benjamin Sandler) grow increasingly concerned. Lloyd: James Cromwell. President Taylor: Steven Culp. Sunday at 9 on ABC.
